The Galicia Jewish Museum and The Contemporary Jewish Museum invite high school students to participate in the second edition of the international film project Our Roots. Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit short 3-5 minute films on the theme Our Roots.

Like tree roots, our family roots – our cultural and ancestral heritage – run deep. Often they twist and turn, and are spread over a wide area. They intertwine with others, creating a system of connections.

Where is your family from? What stories did your grandparents tell you about their lives? We invite you to submit a short film sharing your family history in creative and unique ways.

All films submitted will become part of a special multimedia exhibition displayed at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow and The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, for an international and multicultural audience. Additionally, the films will be made into an online exhibition that will be available for viewers around the world. Participants’ schools will also be encouraged to link to or display the online exhibition on their websites. The films will also be reviewed by a jury of historians, genealogists and filmmakers, and the makers of the top three films, along with their schools, will receive prizes.
