Join the project
What can you find out about your family roots or, specifically, your grandparents’ lives? What were they like? Where did they live? How did they sustain themselves? And, finally, how does this information affect you as a person living in the 21st century? All of these questions (and your answers, of course) contribute to the upward spiral of knowledge understanding that we are trying to facilitate through this project. Perhaps your family history has connections with your peers’ histories. And perhaps you’ll find things out about your family that you would have never known or believed otherwise. These are both possibilities, but you won’t know unless you start asking.
It’s not too late to start working on a video! If you didn’t take part in this edition of the project, you can participate in its future editions. Contact us and we will keep you up to date about the “Our Roots” project. Winners announced!
After long, laborious hours and much deliberation, the jury is prepared to issue its verdict on the three best films. The films, themselves, say it all—you have truly given your best. We encountered the creations of fabulous storytellers and the captivating personal and city/country-related narratives that shaped the spirit of each and every movie. Our warmest regards go out to all of you for taking the time to discover and broadcast—to ask and relay—these intricate histories. With this, we are proud to announce the winners:
1st place: Kinga Czynciel „Endless story” 2nd place: Kamil Cupiał, Patryk Fikus and Paweł Kotarski “My Roots Are Where My Country Is” 3rd place: Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay „Where The Roots Begin” Though we are only issuing three awards, we offer congratulations to all of you for participating in the unearthing of your own personal and place-related histories. |
Don't miss the deadline!
The deadline is approaching fast,
participants! October 1 is the last day to submit your finalised film. Please
keep this date in mind as you navigate your hectic daily lives; it’s worth it,
both for the sake of contributing your family stories to
the large vault of memories and accounts that we call history AND because there is the potential for you and your school
to be monetarily rewarded for your diligent work.
Results of the competition coming soon!
We are so pleased to have received your films and wholeheartedly appreciate your efforts to rediscover your family past and share these narratives with others in such creative ways. Soon, soon, soon, we will release the results of the competition. We assure you that the jury is working day and night to decide on the three best films. It's a hard job, considering how spectacular so many of the submissions are, but the decisions will be finalized within a week. Keep watching for announcements via our Facebook page, where we will count down the hours until we release the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place awards!
